Indian calendar is based on lunar and According to this lunar year is 354 days, while solar year consists of 365 days. Thus, the gap between solar and lunar year is of around 11 days. The gap increases to approximate 1 month in three year lunar years. Hence, to bridge the day’s gap in lunar calendar an extra month comes after every third year and which is called as Adhik Maas or Purshottam
Maas (month). This is supposed to be an auspicious month to gift Silver & Gold to your love ones.
