Inward and Abstract painting exhibition by PNG & Sons
Inward and Abstract Painting Exhibition
As a part of P N Gadgil & Sons art initiative we are showcasing a cascading effect of the ‘Inwardness & Abstraction’ through an array of works primarily the abstract expressions which are distinctly different from the American abstract expressionist works.
Former director of National Film Archive of India (NFAI) Suresh Chabria inaugurated the Inward & abstract paintings exhibition on 23rd August 2018. Mr. Ajit Gadgil, Mr. Nandu Deole, Mr. Raju Sutar, Mr. Vikram Marathe and galaxy of artists were present on this occasion. The Inward and Abstract Painting Exhibition will remain open till 9th September from 11 am to 8 pm at P. N. Gadgil & Sons Ltd. Happy colony showroom art gallery. Explaining the concept behind this exhibition, curator Raju Sutar says, “These are extremely rare works of art for the viewers to come across in a single show. This Inward and Abstract Painting Exhibition is intended to educate the viewers about the modern art movement in India.”
“Indian contemporary art of our time is based on the efforts and evolution of British art schools. The early British techniques of the west were swiftly adopted by many Indian artists. There were so many Indian artists exhibited in Royal Academy, London and praised,” curator Raju Sutar says.
“We as an Indian society have always had an inclination towards looking inward philosophically as against the outward- looking western society. We have a legacy of the bhakti movement, which time and again prompted us to look within. We as artists of modern times have adopted the western appearances and elaborated on our own inner ethos. The journey from pure technical works to deep expressive abstraction has emerged at a great pace along with strong conviction,” Mr. Sutar mentioned.
